The Merrigan family had outgrown there small, awkward kitchen and requested a new plan that would accommodate their need for a larger more suitable space. At the same time they also required the renovation to embrace the atmosphere of the rest of the 1900's mission style home. The new design involved using the space of an adjacent non-functional laundry room. The design team combined the two spaces into one generously sized, open concept kitchen. A large island was integrated into the spac; finished in distressed pine with a sealed granite counter top it not only gave the appearance of an antique, but became a durable and functional piece that would remain with the home for years to come. Custom built cabinetry and built-in hidden laundry facilitites added additional storage space as well as addressing a new area for laundry. Other features included a butler's pantry between the kitchen and dining room for easy service and entertaining, new built in fridge, under counter bar fridge, gas cook top with griddle and built-in double wall ovens.
